Hydrotherapy Treatment
The ELIXEA Hydrotherapy Treatment is a profoundly relaxing and healing experience both for the skin and the whole body. It can be used as a therapy for helping to relieve the symptoms of such conditions as arthritis, rheumatism, gout, muscle or joint pain, back problems, sports injuries, hormonal imbalances, menstrual problems, psoriasis, eczema and fibromyalgia.
sBBPLEASE NOTE: The only contra-indication to Moor Hydrotherapy is high blood pressure. If a client suffers from hypertension then the client's physician should be consulted prior to the treatment. In most cases, the Moor hydrotherapy will be very beneficial. However, the duration should be reduced to 10 minutes and the temperature of the bath reduced to 30C to 32C (86F to 90F).
sBBFirstly, prepare the bath by adding a cupful or sachet of the ELIXEA Herbal Bath compound (approximately 6 to 8 fl.oz.) into the running bath water. The Moor should be thoroughly mixed into the water, and the water temperature should be a maximum of 38C (100F). To test the consistency of the water, immerse your outstretched hand into the water - you should not be able to see the tips of the fingers. The water level should be sufficient to immerse the client up to the neck.
sBBWhile the bath is being prepared, the client can take a shower and wash with ELIXEA Cleansing Bar or Shower Gel. If no shower is available, you may ask the client to shower at home before coming for the treatment. It is advisable for the client not to shower for 24 hours after the treatment to gain the maximum benefits.
sBBNext, carry out an all-over exfoliation using either the ELIXEA Exfoliation Treament (see below) or dry-brushing with a natural fibre mitt or skin brush. Exfoliation will optimize the absorption of the Moor through the skin. If dry brushing, ideally use Dr. Berkowsky's Vital Chi Skin-Brushing System
sBBSet the hydrotherapy jets to a low level. The active effects of the Moor bath should not be over-amplified by the effect of the hydrotherapy jets. The client now lies in the soothing Moor Bath with a pillow supporting the neck, and simply relaxes for 15 to 20 minutes. Creating a soothing ambiance with candles and relaxing music may help to aid relaxation.
sBBWhen the bath is completed, it is important that the client is allowed to air dry. The Moor peat forms an invisible film over the whole body which will continue to act for up to 24 hours. Towelling down would rub off a considerable part of this film.
sBBFinally the client should be wrapped in a large warm towel or robe, then rest for up to one hour in a warm room. During this time, the various healing agents that are still in contact with the skin will continue their action of penetration into the bloodstream. It is very important that the client is not allowed to begin any kind of relatively strenuous activity immediately after the Moor bath.
sBBYour client will now feel relaxed and revitalized. You may notice that the skin feels remarkably soft and smooth, even after the first bath.
sBBFor clients with scars, bruises, burns, joint pain, varicose veins, carpal tunnel syndrome or tendonitis, massage ELIXEA Joint Balm gently into the affected area after the treatment has finished. For muscular tension or aches use ELIXEA Tension Balm.
sBBWhen used for therapeutic purposes, a full course of 21 baths should be taken every other day. The treatment may be continued partially at home, in which case it is recommended that the bath be taken last thing at night. For acute conditions, more than one course may be required.
sBBA healing reaction to the Moor Bath is often experienced. This is a good sign, and may manifest as exacerbated symptoms or aches and pains for a few days. These may disappear only to reappear later in the treatment. However, no matter what form it takes, the healing is always constructive and necessary.
sBBPLEASE NOTE: The Moor compound will not clog your hydrotherapy jets. Most of the compound is water soluble - the particles that do not dissolve are fine enough to easily pass through the jets. Please ensure that you clean the jets every 2 weeks or so, as is normally recommended for hydrotherapy tubs.
